One of the relentless pursuits of Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) is being globally competitive through the employment of global competencies. The University ensures an internationally excellent environment for education while focusing on providing academically stimulating, culturally diverse and quality learning environment that fosters research, innovation and technology development towards producing relevant technical and managerial human resource and leaders to contribute to development. As a University that believes in self – actualization and offering solutions to global challenges, we recognize the need for global collaborations and integration. We are therefore very deliberate on the Internationalization Agenda.
DeKUT Students who are members of the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) in Samburu Game Reserve. DeKUT students and the incoming exchange students were on an educational tour to the Park to enable members interact and socialize.
To strengthen the Internationalization activities at the University, an International Office was established. One of the key roles of this office is to coordinate the Students and Staff Exchange Program. A program in which the University has invested for its value in enhancing the quality of her staff and students towards the ultimate goal of moulding Dedan Kimathi University of Technology into an institution known for world class research, academic excellence, an exceptional staff and students, and one that harbors the highest level of innovation, creativity, scholarship and enterprises.
DeKUT Incoming Exchange Students in a Basic Kiswahili Class. The University has been providing basic Kiswahili classes to enable the students better integrate with the local community.
The University has had several milestones on this agenda and has as a result been invited by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to the Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies (DIES) Workshop on Management of Internationalization to be held from 23rd to 25th October, 2018, in Cairo, Egypt. The objective of the workshop is to bring together university managers in order to enable them to manage processes and tasks of internationalization in higher education efficiently. DeKUT will be represented by Ms. Ann Kirugumi, the Assistant Registrar International Office. Ms. Kirugumi has valuable knowledge and experience in this area having been sponsored by the University for a similar training in 2016 and successfully implementing a focus project on internationalization. She will be one of the speakers who will share knowledge that will help the participating managers to build up improved and more effective structures of internationalization in their home universities.

The invitation by DAAD was based on the University’s consistency and commitment to supporting Internationalization as well as on the success of the focus project that has been instrumental in enhancing exchange programmes in DeKUT.
