Prof. Dulacha's Profile
Prof. Barako is Assistant Director & Head of Academic Division at the Kenya School of Monetary. He was previously Principal Researcher and Head of Financial Sector Analysis at Research Centre – Kenya School of Monetary Studies. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Western Australia, Perth, Australia. He previously taught at the Curtin Business School, Curtin University of Technology, Australia, and served as an adjunct Professor at Curtin Business School, School of Accounting for 2009/2010 academic year.
As an adjunct Professor, he actively engaged in collaborative research projects. He has published several research papers in internationally referred journals. Some of the journals where he has published are: Corporate Governance: An International Review, Journal of Financial Reporting Regulation and Governance, Social and Environmental Accountability Journal, Journal of African and Asian Studies, Journal of Management and Governance and Journal of Money Laundering Control among others and a book chapter.
Prof. Barako serves on the Editorial Board of the African Journal of Business Management as Editor.He has co-supervised a PhD thesis and supervised several masters’ research theses. He has examined several postgraduate theses. Currently, he is external examiner for Curtin University (Curtin Business School – theses examination) and Strathmore University (Strathmore Business School – theses examination).
Prof. Barako joined Central Bank of Kenya in 1996. During his years of services in the Central Bank, he worked in, Research, Bank Supervision and Banking Services departments. Between January 2011 and June 2013 on secondment assignment, Prof. Barako served as Technical Advisor (Research and Policy) at the Commission on Revenue Allocation. Prof. Barako served as Treasurer to the Council of Moi University (2009-2012), and is currently Chairman of Council of Dedan Kimathi University of Technology.
