Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) is an organization which was established in 1989 by the sports and games tutors from the various public and private universities which were in existence by then. KUSA was mandated to oversee the organization of all the university games and sports in public and private universities. The KUSA games and sports bring together participating teams from public and private universities and university colleges from Kenya every year except when universities participate in East African games. The games are hosted on rotational basis by member universities after a competitive bidding.
The first edition of the KUSA games was hosted by Kenyatta University in 1989. Since then the association has organized five editions of these sports and games with the 5th edition being hosted by Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University (JOOST) on 16th through to 21 December 2015. After competitively winning the bid against Kenyatta University and USIU, DeKUT will host the 6th edition of these games from 16th to 21st December, 2017.
