Dedan Kimathi University of Technology(DeKUT) has partnered with Chuka University, Karatina University and University of Saarland, Germany, won a grant from DAAD aimed at supporting the development of an entrepreneurial culture within their universities. The project is known as “Developing Entrepreneurial Universities in Kenya,”DePUK”; engenders applied research, innovation, business startups, entrepreneurial training and Science and Technology Park (STP). This will inturn stimulate the development of entrepreneurships, which will drive job creation in the greater Mt. Kenya region and the whole country. The initiative will support the students and staff to become entreprenuers and job creators, and stimulate economic development in the region.
The project will prepare DeKUT to enter into the league to Entrepreneural Universities, which leverages on research and innovations to create intellectual property (IP) rights, spin-off companies and entrepreneurships to promote sustainable economic growth of the University and the Nation.
