MEET CHARLES WAHOME – A SOFTWARE ENGINEER AT MICROSOFT CORPORATION

Lourine Owiti

“Growing up, I had a fascination with technology. I have fond memories of when I was 8 years old when I first laid hands on a computer at a hospital where my mother worked; the kind people in the records department let me play with it. Back then, the computers only had menus that one would use arrows and enter keys to navigate. A year or two later, the hospital had an upgrade and I was allowed to play with MicrosoftPaint. The joy was evident when I went home having printed a picture of a lion I had managed to insert into Microsoft Paint. When choosing subjects in high school, it was a no-brainer when the computer studies option was provided. I jumped at it. Sadly, the teacher said the class was full. I actually had to beg him to let me in telling him I would be okay standing to learn if there were no seats. As luck would have it, my classmates found the class too difficult and dropped it during the first weeks. True to it, I almost was the last man standing! By the end of high school I weighed my options and thought, since tech related things were fun for me, why not make a career out of it? Therefore, during university courses selection, I made the only choice that I thought could lead me there. I selected Computer Science or Information Technology in any of the schools that could offer it. I do not know what mystical forces were at play but the school in the land of my ancestors chose me to go and take the course in her precious Institution; Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, then Dedan Kimathi College of Technology. Summed in one word, my experience there was lovely “– Charles Wahome

After 4 years of studies, Wahome graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology (IT). Read More>>

MEET ANASTASIA WANGUI KINYUA – A MEDICAL ASSISTANT IN THE UNITED STATES NAVY

Lourine Owiti

“I always had the desire to be an engineer since High School but I had no idea which field of engineering I wanted to pursue. Mechatronic sounded interesting and therefore I selected it and chose to pursue it at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT). By then, the University was not very well known but I knew it was an affiliate college of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and somehow, this gave me faith in the institution. I was right to make this decision because studying at DeKUT was the best part of my college years. The university provided the resources to become leaders and to innovate, to plan and implement, to learn and unlearn about ourselvesby having numerous co-curricular activities that molded us emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, socially, physically and mentally. At the top of the list is, of course, providing sufficient support academically with supportive lecturers and hands-on learning in the laboratories and through fieldwork. In addition, I got a chance to travel to Germany for a student exchange program through the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) courtesy of the University’s collaboration and an internationalization agenda. The exposure to the new language & culture, technology and a new setup was very relevant. While at DeKUT, I also met people from different countries coming into the University through IAESTE, President's Award and Rotaract Club.

The kind of orientation and exposure that I got during my study years at DeKUT highly contributed to a smooth transition into the job market and the skills learned then have always been the backbone of my achievements. I am a proud alumna of the University and I am continuously cheering her on her advancement, growth and tremendous job of molding young Kenyans. I have had family members join the University because they admire my testimony of having the privilege to pursue my degree in DeKUT.” - Anastasia Wangui Kinyua

MEET DR. MADARAKA MWEMA– A LECTURER, RESEARCHER, COLLABORATOR AND MENTOR

Lourine Owiti

"I am driven by my desire to make an impact both as a professional (academic) and human being. My belief is that every human being in this world has a small role to play and the most significant of all is to impact on others. The desire to see my students and colleagues excel propels me; I would like to ensure my students graduate well-grounded in both theory and hands on skills in mechanical engineering and related subjects. I am also driven by my passion on growth of advanced manufacturing, materials and Industry 4.0 in Africa; as a continent and country, we cannot develop if we do not grow skills in these areas. As such, I am keen on sharing my skills on advanced manufacturing and materials with the current generation of students and researchers in Kenya and the rest of the continent. As a country, we still rely on old techniques of processing materials and it is time we administer the modern techniques to advance our industries and products. MEET HON. JADES KALUNDA MUEMA– MEMBER OF COUNTY ASSEMBLY, MAKUENI COUNTY

Lourine Owiti

"I wake up every day driven by the desire to improve the living standards of the citizens; especially my constituents who I took an oath to serve. In my constituency, I have worked on basic infrastructure like functional roads, universal access to water to around 80% across the board, youth, women & other vulnerable groups' empowerment with income generating initiatives, access to markets & information, scholarships & bursaries to bright and needy students, welfare support, universal access to healthcare, agricultural & livestock extension services access, land ownership and transfers, sports & talent support, small scale irrigation & advanced agribusiness support, public participations, among others. While doing all this, I credit Dedan Kimathi University of Technology for giving me the best experience; both as a student and employee. The University gave me a chance to interact with the best and exposed me to the real challenges and choices; the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ndirangu Kioni who I consider my second father motivated us a lot and allowed us to participate in all we wanted and neededas a way of holistic development. This experience gave me the foundation of the person I am today.”- Hon. Jades Kalunda Muema

MEET NICHOLAS NDEERI KINYUA– A INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST & ENTREPRENEUR

Lourine Owiti

"I have always been fascinated by Computers and Information Technology since I was young.  During the school holidays, I used to enroll for computer studies at PCEA Kabiruini Computer Training Center. By the time I left Giakaibii Secondary School in Mathira Constituency, Nyeri County, I was already computer literate. This was an achievement given that even some teachers were not proficient in this area; I even got a chance to teach at PCEA Kabiruini Computer Training Center andKiamariga Teachers College before joining University. I knew I had a long way to go though to gain expertise in this field which is why I applied for an ICT course at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) owing to the information I had from people that in technology, it was a very wholesome institution; my decision was also informed by the fact that DeKUT is near home. It wasn’t just Information Technology that I ended up learning from this University though as here, I learnt the importance of interacting with other people to solve common problems and create solutions for the society, I learnt how to express myself better and without fear, I found another home where I was inspired and moulded to become the person I am today. The holistic development gainedhere and the continuous development after – a spirit inculcated at DeKUT –is what keeps me grounded” - Nicholas Ndeeri Kinyua

Mr. Ndeeri graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology in 2018. Read More>>

MEET KAHUGU BENSON MUNGE– AN ENTREPRENEUR & PROFESSIONAL SOFTBALL & BASEBALL PLAYER

Lourine Owiti

"I started playing softball with my friends as a hobby at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) shortly after joining in 2013. After long lectures, we would go swing the one bat we had and some tennis balls just to unwind and have fun next to the University’s bus park. I gained more and more interest in the game and started watching videos of the sport online. When I came across some equipment in Gikomba market, I bought them, carried the kit to my campus and curious students would join me daily for practice until the University’s sports department heard of us, from a physical education intern who knew the sport, and gave us an official training field. The Kenyan Little League and Softball Kenya donated starter kits in 2016 and in the same year, we joined the National Softball Series and finished at position three hence qualifying for the playoffs. This motivated the young team to train harder and thisteam that now had the name Nyeri Rebels became the new school's sensation; everyone wanted to be part of us. It’s been a journey that started as a hobby and now I have played professionally for several teams and I have been recently recruited to play for the National Softball Team; we will represent Kenya next year in South Africa for the Softball World Cup Qualifiers.” –Kahugu Benson Munge

MEET SAMUEL NJOROGE MWANGI– THE 25 YEAR OLD VYING FOR THE GATHARA WARD MCA POSITION

Lourine Owiti

"Kenya is a developing country. There is a lot of growth happening from every end and procurement is at the centre in purchasing of goods and services. The fact that in everything we undertake, procurement is involved spirited me to pursue the course. My choice of the University, Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT), was informed by the University's keenness on timely completion of studies, good and healthy learning environment and also the University's love for technology. I got even more; DeKUT, through involvement, exposure and DELIBERATE moulding, gave me the golden opportunity to understand politics and learn the dynamics of the political game. That is where my political ambitions were born” – Samuel Njoroge Mwangi.

Mr. Njoroge graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supplies Management in 2019. Read More>>

MEET NEWTON KELVIN OLLENGO – A FRESH GRADUATE ALREADY TAKING ON THE WORLD

Newton Kelvin Ollengo

"My Physics teacher, in High School, used to emphasize on passing along the knowledge one gains in life and encouraged us to take courses in Education. On the other hand, my teacher in Electricity encouraged us to take Engineering courses. I had developed a passion in Electrical and Electronics Engineering while young hence taking a course that enables me to achieve both Teaching and Engineering at the same time felt like a huge bonus for me. Interestingly, very few universities offer this kind of degree and Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) is among the few. This and the location of the University in a quiet and serene environment at the slopes of Mt. Kenya, coupled with very few cases of strikes and commitment & focus of the staff and students hence timely completion of studies, made the choice a tad easier. That is what I saw from the outside but from the inside, I found more and became more every step of the way. The journey continues.” – Newton Kelvin Ollengo.

Mr. Newton is a fresh graduate; he graduated on 17th December, 2021 with a First Class Honors in Bachelor of Education in Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Read More>>

MEET JULIA MUIRURI – A TECHNICAL MENTOR & CO – FOUNDER OF RHIONS LAB

Julia-Muiruri

“If you would have asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I would have said a neuro-surgeon because there was something that lit up a spark in me whenever I would hear people talk about medicine, treatment, surgery, saving lives and the part that fascinated me the most was delivering the happy news of a successful surgery to a family that was at the verge of giving up. I considered myself to be a smart girl and I would always visualize myself in a white coat, pair of spectacles (at least I got this because my sight is not that good) with medical records in my hands setting out to save lives. After graduating from High School however, I didn’t meet the required cut off mark to pursue medicine and I remember for a second there, I was very disappointed in myself. The worst part was that I had not really thought about an alternative career. I welcomed different opinions on the ‘best and most marketable course to do’ back then and finally I had to decide. This process was a great lesson for me; take all the advice you can but be sure to make the decision yourself. After evaluating my options, I settled on taking Information Technology only because from the research I did, there was a possibility of diving back into the medical field from an IT perspective because of how diverse the course is. Given that Dedan KimathiUniversity of Technology is listed as one of the best universities for technical courses and engineering, I chose to pursue my course here and after understanding in depth what IT can do in today’s world, I just fell in love with the impact I can have in the world through technology. If given the chance to pursue medicine, guess what – I’d pass. I just feel like I was meant for what I do today.” – Julia Muiruri

Ms. Julia graduated barely two months ago, on 17th December, 2021 with a degree in Information Technology (IT). Read More>>

MEET DIANA WANGESHI NJUGUNA – A LECTURER & AUTHOR OF THE BOOK “DESPITE EVERYTHING.”

Diana-Wangeshi-Njuguna

“I love seeing women empowered. I am inspired by the passion of women living their best life and pursuing dreams at their individual levels and generally, I find joy in seeing women and girls doing their best to be better versions of themselves. I am open minded and love new ideas; I follow through to see their completion. I get inspired by being in spaces where there is positive energy. I enjoy learning from individuals who have made it their business to leave their comfort zone and dare to be the best version of themselves. I get this inspiration from reading books and listening to podcasts. I have learnt to act on this inspiration and this is what drove me to take the bold step of leaving my young family to pursue my PhD in Hungary. I have recently published a book ‘Despite Everything’ with the hope that as I have been inspired along my journey, I inspire others.” - Diana Wangeshi Njuguna.

Ms. Wangeshi is a Lecturer here at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) currently on study leave to pursue her PhD in Health at University of Debrecen, Hungary. Read More>>

MEET ORINA DOROTHY– A 5TH YEAR MECHATRONIC ENGINEERING STUDENT AND A TECHPRENEUR

Dorothy-Orina

“My decision to pursue Mechatronic Engineering spurred from a recommendation by my physics teacher who, owing to my eyes allergy, advised that they might be too sensitive to handle the particles that may arise from the exploration of aeronautical engineering - a course I was very passionate about. I considered the advice and since I had a simultaneous compelling interest in Medicine, I looked up Biomechatronics, which is what I was to apply for only to discover that it is not offered in Kenya. I applied for Mechatronic Engineering and at the time, I wasn't looking forward to joining DeKUT. Looking back though, I am super grateful for how things turned out; I was admitted for another course in another university but after compromising on Biomechatronics, an unrelated course wasn't a compromise I was willing to make. I did an Interversity Transfer and the rest is not just history but my present and future. Several pages of my growth story have been written in DeKUT owing to the amount of exposure, nurturing and opportunities I have gotten while here. I am of the strong opinion that DeKUT provides a great career avenue where if one is keen and persistent enough, they can define their own professional path by the time they complete their course.” - Orina Dorothy.

What age would you guess a 5th year student is at; one who only waited 4 months to join University after Form Four and is in an institution where timely completion of studies is key?  Read More>>

MEET SAMUEL KIIRU– A RESEARCHER IN FOOD & NUTRITION AND USE OF SUSTAINABLE FAUNA

Samuel-Kiiru

“Just like most high school candidates, my only source of information about university courses was my trusted high school teachers (at Karuri High School, Kiambu). Mr. Kayesi, HSC- who is still my good friend, was vastly knowledgeable on the potential that Food Science had/has as a career and the value to the society as well. I also got encouragement from the Director of Food Bioresources Technology at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT); the Director then was Dr. Beatrice Mugendi - now a Deputy Vice Chancellor at Murang’a University of Technology. When most of the first year students were applying for inter-faculty transfers, she was there to offer career counseling and that’s when I took an opportunity and asked her if majoring in food engineering would earn me the title of an engineer. She smiled and told me that I will be much better than that. This warmed my heart and I embarked into the field of Food Science & Technology happily. She was right; I feel more than an engineer as I focus on Food and Nutrition innovations and use of sustainable fauna such as edible insects products in feeding the increasing human population. ” - Samuel Kiiru.

Opportunities and breakthroughs in life come to people in different seasons and in different ways. For Kiiru, it was through the DeKUT Exchange Programme coordinated by the International Office.  Read More>>

MEET KIZITO NYONGESA– A BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (HR OPTION) STUDENT

Mr Kizito Nyongesa

“I chose to study at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) because of the praise I had heard in regards to uninterrupted studies, timely completion and growth opportunities for students; I have not been disappointed. When it was time to specialize, my decision to pursue Human Resource (HR) as my area of specialization in Business Administration was informed by my desire to work towards sustainable performance in organizations to overcome challenges in a complex and ever changing environment, impact people everyday at the workplace and also to take responsibility of employees welfare and happiness. As I approach the end of my undergraduate studies, I can confidently say that I have really learnt a lot; especially in my area of specialization through the various units taught & experiences shared in the process and the industrial attachment experience. I have also learnt to relate and work well with people of different orientations towards a common goal and at this point, my career path is clear. ” - Kizito Nyongesa.

MEET STEPHEN MUCHIRI KINYUA – A STUDENT NURSE MAKING IT IN THE WORLD OF ONLINE WRITING

Mr Stephen Muchiri Kinyua

“I grew up in a family of five. A family that was plagued by domestic violence, financial hardships and a plethora of other debilitating challenges. I am proud to have learnt important life lessons from those painful childhood experiences; this is part of the reason I chose Nursing as a career. Nursing provides me with an opportunity to directly alleviate pain and walk with people in their time of need; my childhood experiences and those along this journey have humbled me. I am happy I decided to pursue my studies here at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT). I have had the opportunity to receive quality training and go for my clinical rotations in different hospitals. I have also had the opportunity to interact with students and staff across the institution. I have been a peer counselor for the last two years, a member of the IAESTE club, not to mention the recently nominated position of Interim Chairperson for the recently launched DeKUT Ajira Digital Club.  DeKUT has a great reputation. The institution is also, by far, student-friendly compared to other higher institutions of learning and with a well implemented holistic education model that allows students opportunities to learn and grow holistically. My experience here so far has been pure bliss. ” -  Stephen Muchiri Kinyua.

Mr. Muchiri is our student in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme and is expected to graduate in 2023. Read More>>

OFFICES OF CAREER SERVICES – THE GENESIS, IMPLEMENTATION AND THE POTENTIAL IMPACT

Offices of Career Services

“It is common knowledge that many graduates from the higher education institutions in Kenya either fail to find employment for far too long or are underemployed. This is partly attributed to  lack of skills critical for finding meaningful engagement for wealth creation and better livelihoods. There is need for strategies towards seamless transition from learning to earning. An effective Office of Career Services (OCS) has a critical role to play in this regard. Strategies include counseling services, student/industry linkages, apprenticeships, career fairs, recruitments, venture capitals and graduate-tracker services. It is my hope that implementation of Office of Career Services in Universities and all Tertiary Institutions will bring to fruition the overall goal of the higher education sub-sector, that is, productive engagement for wealth creation and better living standards. ” -  Amb. (Dr.) Amina Mohamed, EGH, CAV.

The initiative to call for the establishment of Office of Career Services in all Institutions of Higher Learning was rolled out in 2018; when Amb. Amina Mohamed was the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education. Read More>>

DeKUT_KFC FILM HUB – THE IMPACT STORY THUS FAR

DeKUT KFC Film Hub

“Media and entertainment industries are some of the fastest growing industries in Kenya. They hold a big promise as economic drivers. However, this realization is deterred due to several challenges such as lack of accompanying infrastructure for generation of content for the digital media platform; lack of requisite professional skills and lack of appropriate technology, facilities and a conducive ecosystem for acceleration of research and innovation in the entertainment and digital media industry. It is these challenges that we strive to successfully navigate and collaborating with various stakeholders has made that possible to a big extent. Dedan Kimathi University of Technology_Kenya Film Commission (DeKUT_KFC) Gaming, Animation & Film Hub has a goal of transforming the audiovisual industry by leveraging emerging technologies in the creation of digital media products. We have a niche in educational content and we believe that what we are doing here will outlast us. Our content will benefit not only our country but will be consumed globally, placing Kenya and Dedan Kimathi University of Technology on the global map. With continued support from our stakeholders, we are all set for taking DeKUT and Kenya to the world” - Ms. Anne Kimani, Head of DeKUT_KFC Film Hub.

“If you want to go fast, go alone but if you want to go far, go together.” This is an old adage recognized as an African proverb that DeKUT_KFC ascribes to as they acknowledge the power of collaboration. Read More>>

MEET NAHASHON MUCHIRI MAINA – A DIGITAL MARKETER, AN ELECTRONIC WASTE MANAGEMENT CHAMPION AND AN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ENTHUSIAST

Mr Nahashon Muchiri Maina

“Many things inspire me but what inspires me the most is the desire to find out how far I can go and how good I can become in my field. Sure enough, I have already mastered digital marketing and it allows me to work on complex projects and have a real impact with my work but is this really the pinnacle? Can I not do even more? Can I not become even better in this and the tech field? What options will open up for me once I master Artificial Intelligence? Such questions, and a desire to find my own limits–if they exist, motivate me to keep learning and working on my skills. When it comes to computers, my interest was born out of curiosity in class six (6) and when I went to high school, I jumped through hoops to make it to a computer class. Nine (9) years later, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT); this was my home for four (4) years and it opened me to opportunities that were rare and only available to those who presented themselves for them.  ” -  Nahashon Muchiri Maina.

Muchiri graduated here at DeKUT in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Read More>>

MEET JACINTA MUMBI KAGECHA – AN ACTUARIAL SCIENCE STUDENT WITH GREAT LOVE FOR CARS

Jacinta Mumbi Kagecha

“Actuarial Science is all about math and I was good at that so I decided to study it but I love cars. I chose to study at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) because students take a shorter period to complete their course compared to several other institutions due to the seamless flow of semesters and few interruptions, if any - especially those within the control of the DeKUT fraternity like strikes. I have come to also find studying at DeKUT fun and I really enjoy the conducive environment. Given my love for cars, I started involving myself in automotive engineering in my early days after joining DeKUT. I went ahead and registered to study it as a course in another institution. I also work at King’ong’o junction garage where I get my practical experience on the mechanics aspect of the course; so far I can do almost all the mechanical work. ” - Jacinta Mumbi Kagecha.

Mumbi is a 3rd Year Student pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Actuarial Science here at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology but is also pursuing a Diploma in Automotive Engineering at Nyeri National Polytechnic. Read More>>

MEET WILLY ABUGA – AN ENTREPRENEUR IN THE MAZDA CARS BUSINESS

Willy Abuga

“I joined Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) when it was a small college; everyone knew everyone - at least that’s how it felt for me. The experience was fun & enlightening, a good environment and friendly staff. DeKUT laid the foundation to where I am currently at. That’s not to say that I learnt about fixing cars while at the University but that journey, unknowingly, began there because despite not transitioning to what one would call a conventional career, the course I took has greatly helped me in what I am doing right now in terms of programming & general tech in vehicles. Further, the University prepared me for the world in that it was where I first had independence from my parent and through interactions with other mates, we explored and started making ends meet. This gave me significant perspective, exposure and a mix of independence and interdependence that I count on today; in my life and business” - Willy Abuga.

Abuga graduated here at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Read More>>

MEET MARIA NJOROGE – AN ENTREPRENEUR AND CO - FOUNDER OF PLANT SIGNAL

Maria Njoroge

“An article in the newspaper was addressing a shortage of Geomatic Engineers in KenGen. Upon looking into the course, only Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) was offering it so I took it. Gladly, at the end of the 5 year course, I could confidently tell what it entails and I found my niche; and maybe, I will still get a chance to work at KenGen to fill that gap. I loved my experience studying at DeKUT; it was great - a special shout out to the Institute of Geomatics, GIS and Remote Sensing (IGGReS). Their engagement and resources; from the lecturers to the administrative staff, were impactful. The University’s Innovation Hub (DeHUB) too played an integral role towards where I am today and the drive I have for the future. The DeKUT Tech Communities are some of the avenues that turned out to be great resources that propelled my career. Speaking of career, my transition to the job market was smooth. I dived into the market while in third year so the culture shock was not really bad. I had great mentors who are alumni of DeKUT and they held my hand in curving a path of my own; Ms. Stella Chelangat and Mr. Eddy Mburu, just to mention a few. I am so grateful to them.” - Maria Njoroge.

Maria recently graduated (in May 2022) from DeKUT with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geomatic & Geospatial Information Systems. Read More>>

MEET SHADRACK KIPROTICH – A TECHIE, INNOVATOR & MICROSOFT’S MOST VALUABLE PROFESSIONAL

Shadrack Kiprotich

“If my dad did not buy his first laptop and PC back then and if I did not choose to study at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT), I would not be anywhere close to what I am currently doing. I grew up within the hospital environment since my parents, one of my siblings and also close family members are medics. With this, I knew my career would be aligned to medicine as I had grown an admiration for their careers; then my dad got his first laptop and PC which drifted me away from the medical world and I started developing an interest in computers; I was still in primary school. The Interest developed with time and in high school, I did computer studies which I later dropped in Form 3. After Form 4 I was to enroll in a coding course but I received an early letter of admission to DeKUT for May 2018 intake; during the selection of courses, I missed a Computer Science course by a few points which made me go for Bachelor of Commerce. I really wanted a university which would enable me to pursue my tech career dream while doing the business course and DeKUT, given her slogan “Better Life through Technology” felt like the best fit for me. Up to date, I have never regretted that choice. I became part of that slogan. I completed my studies in a timely manner and also I can say I achieved my objective as it seems I graduated with 2 courses.” - Shadrack Kiprotich.

Kiprotich is a 2021 graduate of DeKUT. His formal course was Bachelor of Commerce but he graduated with a second ‘degree’; Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and he has gone to become Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professional. Read More>>

MEET OMBWAYO MICHAEL - AN IT GRADUATE & FOUNDER OF EUJIM SOLUTIONS LIMITED

Ombwayo Michael

“I chose Information Technology because I grew up in a rural area, Seme Kopudo, Kisumu County, where I had a few interactions with computers and technology. The world of computers seemed distant, almost like a fantasy that only a few could access. But everything changed when I joined Our Lady of Fatima Secondary School. I was introduced to the basics of computer technology through some introductory lessons. Pursuing a course in Information Technology was driven by genuine passion. I wanted to understand the inner workings of computers, unravel the mysteries of software and hardware and contribute to the ever-evolving landscape of technology. This journey was not just about a career path but about pursuing something that resonated deeply within me. When choosing a University to pursue my studies in Information Technology, DeKUT stood out as the perfect choice. First and foremost, it has built a reputation for its strong focus on technology and innovation. The University’s commitment to providing cutting-edge education in Technology was a significant factor that attracted me. From the faculty’s expertise to the state-of- the-art facilities, I knew that joining DeKUT would immerse me in an environment that fosters technological excellence. - “Ombwayo Michael.
