Emerging Technologies in EO Data Utilisation-panelists
DeKUT continues to collaborate with KSA through various research projects, such as the Small Scale Crop Mapping Using AI/ML project and the "Operational Space Weather project. From 15th to 17th June 2022, we participated in the inaugural Kenya Space Expo and Conference that was held in Nairobi, Kenya. The event, hosted by the Kenya Space Agency (KSA), was themed "Leveraging Space Capabilities for National Development". The Expo and Conference focused on leveraging space science, technologies, and applications to address existential socio-economic challenges and develop national economies. It brought together industry, government representatives, policymakers, academia, representatives of space agencies and international organizations, young professionals, and the general public.
Part of the team that represented DeKUT at the event included Dr. Kuria B. Thiong'o from the Institute of Geomatics, GIS, and Remote Sensing (IGGReS). Dr. Kuria was a panelist in one of the sessions titled "Emerging Technologies in EO Data Utilization", in addition to moderating the session on "Applications of EO for Natural Resource Management".
